Oh geez, sleeping has been interesting that past two weeks.
Maddie is going through a lot of changes, you know, being so much more mobile and active, and I feel like her little mind is just always going. She is also cutting teeth which I think has not helped the sleep issue. Plus, last week Daddy was out of town, and she needs her Daddy time or she is just NOT the same.
I am trying to be compassionate, yet firm as to not create any new habits that DJ and I do not want to form- i.e. sleeping in our bed as a permanent thing. So, last night was a night that I knew she was feeling fine. Sometimes she had a bit of a fever, or pulled on her ears, etc. Things that made me think she was not 100%. Well last night DJ put her down to bed and she slept there for a good hour. Then woke up. I could tell that her cry was a half-asleep cry, so I did not go into her room, for fear of waking her up more. Well there would be long silences with a bit of crying. DJ and I both knew this meant she was sitting up... and falling asleep while sitting up. One time DJ went in to lay her down. But she gets right up again. Then I went in a bit later and here is the super sad, and kinda funny part. I want to take a pic of this.. but I swear, it looks so sad, I can't actually take the pic. She is sitting up, but has obviously fallen over from falling asleep... so she is bent at the waist, and is usually laying down with her head on her bumper. I went in and gently laid her down and she didn't get back up... yay. :) She stayed asleep until DJ got up this morning. THen I brought her into bed with me and she fell back asleep until 9. That is about the only good thing about her sleeping in bed with us... she sleeps in very long. At least 9:00 :). Hence why I was happy to have her come into bed with me this morning.
She is eating so much big girl food now. Last night DJ and I went to Logans for dinner and she pigged out on my Mac and Cheese side dish! I couldn't them up fast enough for her. She also wouldn't take anymore potatoes after I gave her the Mac and cheese!
She is now doing the sign for "More" and "Eat" It is SUPER cute. I think everyone should teach their children sign language... JUST to see how super smart they are so early on! Sometimes when she does the sign for "More" she doesn't get it just righ, and I swear it is like she realizes that she is not doing it right. One time, I swear it was like she shook her head like No, that is not right. Or she will start to do it and it isn't right, she stops and does something else like put her hand on her head like, "I wasn't trying to say more, I swear" IT cracks me up. And then, when she is doing it very well, she is so proud about it. Huge smile on her face, and she does it with much force and pride. Hands right out in front of her, dramatic motions. I think I might have a perfectionist on my hands!
She also barks when you ask her what our Dog says.. or if she hears him, or other dogs in the neighborhood bark for that matter. NOW, it is not a super perfect "Wolf, Wolf" But she raises her chest and makes this noise, and I know what it means, and it makes me smile every time she does it. Maxim barks to be let in, and sometimes I tune him out. Then she will look at me and "bark" and I think, oh, right, Max wants in.
Still here thinking BLUE for today! :)
