I am learning how to coupon. This is something I promised my husband and myself I would do if I stayed home. Actually, that is not true, I promised him and myself that I would watch our spending and that I would clip and use coupons. But, in typical Melissa fashion, I can't just do something with half effort, I have to delve into whatever I am doing and do it to the 10th degree. So, I am learning how to REALLY coupon. This means clipping everything and waiting for things to go on sale and saving big. I will give you an example. I am going to the store today and getting Hot Pockets for .75 each! (Now, this is my first great deal, so I am pretty excited. I don't even eat hotpockets, but DJ and his friends do when they are here. I sometimes buy them when they are on sale, but it is not like we have them in the house everyday like a necessity.. but again, this is my first big savings, so humor me here.)
So here is the math...
Right now Kroger has them on sale for 2.00. Plus they have something going on right now called Mega buy. So, you buy 10 items (these are only certain items) and you get an automatic $5.00 discount.
So, I am going to buy 5 hotpockets. I have a coupon for 1.25 off 5 hotpockets. I also have a 1.50 off a $7.00 Frozen food purchase. Then we have the $5.00 off (which we will only count $2.50 for the hotpockets since they will only be half of the MEga purchase)
2.00 X 5=
$10.00
- $1.25
= $8.75
- $1.50
= $7.25
- $2.50
= 4.75/5
= .75
=GO ME.

YAY for coupons! I have attempted to go crazy with coupons and sales...it is pretty hard and time consuming, yet fun. It's kind of like a game. Find the coupon, find the store with the sale...get the goods! good luck!
