Isn't there a show called Chelsea Lately? I think so, and if not, than I guess my title really makes no sense.
Anyhow, I am in the mood to ramble today, and this might have something to do with the fact that I have been up since 5:45. I decided to get out of bed this morning at 5:45 because I wasn't feeling oh so tired, but I was absolutely STARVING (2 pieces of pizza took care of that.) I had a headache (tylenol took care of that) and my eczema was extremely itchy (nothing actually took care of that, still itchy :( ).
So pardon me if I ramble on like a fool, at least today I have an excuse.
So, here is what has been going on with Maddie lately....
She is growing so big! A little- no, actually BIG, personality is starting to show through. She knows what she wants and how to get it! She is completely attached to her Daddy. I am not sure if this is normal, or because he hasn't been around lately. But Sunday night we had our usual family dinner, and DJ actually got home at a decent time, about 7 or so. Well he didn't go directly to Maddie and pick her up- she was with my Mom- and boy did she start crying. And it is the saddest thing when she does this cry. So sad, complete with pouted lip and all. Then Monday night the same thing. I told him that she was getting to the age where he needed to come over to her and pick her up and give her hugs and kisses. Cut to Tuesday... he comes in about 9:30ish, she excitedly looks at him... and he says "wait, I have to go to the bathroom" and off he runs! WELL, she gave us an ear-full about that. So, last night she was actually sleeping when he got home, again around 9:30 and he went into her room. She heard him and woke, so he got her up. Then he gives her to me to get himself a couple slices of pizza, and she starts crying the most broken hearted cry you have ever heard! Needless to say, I had to get him pizza while he held and played with her. He loves it. I don't blame him. I love it. I am glad that he stole her heart and vice versa.
She is going through another stage of blowing raspberries. With all her might. I sometimes try to distract her from doing it cause she looks like she is straining so much doing this. It is funny too. They don't sound like regular kid raspberries, they sound more like actual fart noises.
She love the sounds and lights stage that we borrowed from some friends. I think I need to go buy her one, I don't think she is going to get sick of this toy for a bit.
She doesn't give kisses anymore...I ruined that one by asking for them too many times. She now buries her head into my shoulder so that I can't even steal them when I ask for them and am denied.
She is no longer sleeping a full 12 hours. She needs to go to bed earlier, but I am not going to even try until after DJ stops working so late, so that she can see him every day.
She lets me know now if it is past her scheduled bottle time by doing the sign for milk. She doesn't make sounds or even fuss. But I will notice her hand continually doing the sign. It makes me laugh, and want to kiss her for being the sweetest, smartest baby ever. (ok, I know we all have sweet and smart babies;)) Last Friday we were going to Jan and Davids for dinner and I wanted to feed her when we got there and I was getting her ready a few minutes after she should have had her bottle. Well, I did a very silly thing. I was holding her while I went out to fill her bottle and put the formula into the diaper bad to take over there. Then I went back to her room to change her diaper before we left. When I laid her on the changing table, she cried this little sad cry- wrinkled up face, pouting lips and was doing the sign for bottle. I felt SOOO bad that I had mislead her. But get this, I say to her "Maddie, were going to go to Janette and Davids and I will feed you your bottle there, ok?" And then there was silence. She stopped crying. I swear it is like she understood what I said.
Alright, well Maddie went down for her first nap. I think i am going to go try to nap myself. :)

They grow SO fast, dont they?? The sheets are from WalMart actually, but I LOVE them! :)
Melissa, what a great post. I really enjoyed reading more about what is going on with ya'll. (ya'll, haha, here is my southerness!) Maddie just sounds like the most precious thing! I want a baby girl so Oswald can have a Daddy's girl like DJ! BTW, I have heard so many raves about the sound/light stage. I guess I need to get Ethan one too!
Isn't that the coolest, when communication starts to work?! Just wait until she can answer you back...it's the best. Well, until she won't shut up and you start going bananas with WHY????
