Maddie and I are running a 5K

I am so excited!! When I left the hospital after Maddie was born I made a promise to myself... that I would run a 5K around Maddie's 1st Birthday. I did this for so many reasons. 1.) to give me motivation to get back into shape. 2.) to do something inspirational for this new love that I was taking home with me. I want to be a fit and active Mom and pass that down to her. 3.) Because I was feeling so bad recovering from everything that I couldn't wait to be able to run again. Also, the whole time I was pregnant I was always thinking that I cannot let myself become that person who is overweight and unhealthy and has problems doing the basic of things. When I was pregnant it was an effort to get out of bed, put on pants, tie my shoes, climb stairs, etc. I never wanted to feel that crazy out of breath, need to stop and rest inbetween shoes feeling I had when I was pregnant.

So fast forward to now my plan was to walk up until after the first of the year- actually thinking March or so when it started to get warm. I was walking a ton while on Maternity leave, but once I started work again, I stopped walking :(. Since I have been off I have been walking more, but here is the exciting part... I BOUGHT A JOGGING STROLLER. I am so excited!! I am most excited because I did a lot of research and I feel like I got a really good one for a really good price. AND, I used money given to me for Christmas presents to purchase it. (Thank you Danny and Susie!!!) :)

Then just yesterday an idea popped in my head. I am going to find a race that will allow strollers- they do that right? I mean before my idea was that I would ask DJ to come to the race and bring Maddie and I would get my picture taken with her at the end with me all sweaty and feel very proud. BUT, now I am even more excited because, she will be with me in the stroller while I am training for the 5K, so why not have her be there when I actually run it. Originally I was thinking I would do the RFTC when it came to Detroit, but now I don't care what I run in, but I am going to find some sort of race that will allow me to run with my new stroller. Yay, Yay!!

Below is a pic of my stroller. I got an email that it shipped out today!
