It was a very fun weekend and started with me playing hookie from work :) DJ got the day off due to little work, and I am pretty dead as well, so I used a "the Baby sitter called in excuse" :) So it was a pretty fun day. We went to lunch at Sandy's and then off we went to Costco for diapers and to find some Christmas lights. DJ really wanted to put some up around the entire living room for Maddie. We really wanted blinking lights, but went with just regular lights (ended up with ones I already had at home) It was really difficult to find lights. Grrr.
Friday night CJ came over with his parents to visit Maddie. It was so cute, Maddie was so excited to see him. She kept doing her excited dance and kept lunging towards him and touching his face. I had recently bought her some bows and well, CJ wasn't really sure about the bow. She is smiling and cooing at him and all he could do was stare at the bow! Follow his line of sight in the picture... ha ha.

After the babes went to bed, we played Euchre with CJs parents, whoo we haven't hung out with in a while. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!! It is funny, when I haven't hung out with friends in a while, I always think why do we not hang out more often?? And I also remember why they became our friends in the first place, cause we have so much fun with them!!!!!
Saturday we had plans to go to the Toledo Zoo to see their lights. We were going with two other couples, who decided not to go because of the weather that was scheduled to come in. We decided to give it a go. Mostly cause DJ wanted to stop at Cabela's along the way, and really still wanted to do that. I already had Maddie dressed in her Christmas Garb (pic to follow later) and so off we went. Cabelas was a nightmare. Soooo busy, small aisles and we had a cart because of Maddie. The best part of the trip was the Cableas Licorice. What is it with the Licorice in those places, it is like they have crack in them (earmuffs Maddie).
Anyhow, we then ate dinner at Wendy's. Maddie sat in the high chair like a big girl all on her own. Off we went to the Zoo, oh, and did I mention we didn't have directions!! Yup, we were hoping to find signs! Ha ha. We actually didn't have too hard of a time finding the place considering. Good thing I had my husband with me, cause I can get lost WITH directions let alone without! We found the place and I must say... it looked very darn cool!!!! BUT, I don't really know for sure! We never made it in.
By the time we made it to the Zoo- right around 7:00 it started sleeting... and th wind was whipping it up my back, and in our faces. So we are in the parking lot, and we tag team to get everything out in a hurry, I am putting Maddie in her snow suit, DJ is putting the carrier on him.... then I realize her snow suit DOES NOT HAVE FEET in them. That is right, I KNEW it didn't but I momentarily had a brain fart and completely forgot. I have NO shoes for her. Maddie starts crying cause I am rushing and being not oh so gentle (and she just woke up) the cold is whipping i the car, and I bang her head on the car seat. I look up at DJ struggling to put the carrier on and notice for the first time he totally is not dressed for this weather....so I say, You wanna go? We give each other this look of relief and laughter- like we are sooo crazy and he says "YES" so he runs over to the other side, puts everything back into the car, shuts the door, then gets in and I whip Maddies suit off, and get her back in the carseat to which she stops screaming. I buckle her back in and off we go. Paid $5 to uses their parking lot of 10 minutes and leave.
The funny thing is that as we made our way out of the parking lot, all of these happy families were making their way into the Zoo, despite the spitting weather, and I am thinking it must be a really good show. I thought DJ might be in a bad mood from driving all that distance in snow with out even seeing what we went there to see, but he wasn't. I think he was as happy as me to NOT have to deal with that wind and sleety snow!
We get back home, put Maddie to bed, mix ourselves some drinks, and watch a movie in our WARM, and romanticly lit with Christmas lights house!

Your trip to the zoo sounds like a real adventure. I haven't experienced weather like that in such a long time. But the end of the day sounds perfect! I enjoyed Oz being out of town because I took the opportunity to go take a trip of my own to see my parents. But last night we just curled up on the sofa together and your post reminded me of it! So nice!
sounds cold!! I love the ending, makes me want to mix a drink and sit on the couch! Did you guys get the few snowstorms we got? We have like a foot on the ground right now!! And of course these storms were all on my days to work AND I LOVE driving in it! LOL
